Hiking to Punta Larici

A scenic adventure for a panoramic Lake view

If you're looking for a picturesque hiking destination that offers stunning views of the Italian landscape, look no further than Punta Larici. Located in the heart of the Italian Alps, Punta Larici is a popular hiking spot that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and Lake Garda. One of the most popular routes to reach Punta Larici is from the village of Pregasina, which offers a scenic and challenging hiking experience.

The village is situated at an altitude of 535 meters and offers stunning views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The trail is well-marked and begins near the church in the center of the village. The hike is approximately 4.5 kilometers long and takes about two hours to complete. The itinerary is really very simple: we always follow the forest road to Malga Palaer on path 422b, for most of the time in the woods.

The first part of the trail takes you through a dense forest of beech and fir trees. The forest provides welcome shade from the sun and offers a peaceful atmosphere as you make your way up the mountain. The trail is well-maintained and relatively easy to navigate, with occasional steep sections that require some effort to climb.

Ascending we decided (actually we simply took the wrong path 422a) to follow the steeper path and, while the forest begins to thin out, and the views become more spectacular. You'll start to see glimpses of Lake Garda and the surrounding mountains through the trees, and the scenery only gets better as you continue to climb. The final section of the trail is the most challenging, with steep switchbacks leading up to the summit of Punta Larici. But the effort is well worth it when you reach the top and are rewarded with panoramic views of the entire region.

From the summit of Punta Larici, you can see Lake Garda in all its glory, as well as the surrounding mountains, including Monte Baldo, the highest peak in the region. The view is truly breathtaking and is a great reward for your efforts. You can spend some time at the summit, taking in the views and enjoying a picnic lunch before beginning your descent.

The hike back down to Pregasina follows the big road trail that you see in Bocca Larici, but with different views and perspectives. The descent is pretty easy and fast. Along the way, you can take in the beauty of the forest and the surrounding mountains, and perhaps even catch a glimpse of some wildlife.

Overall, Hiking to Punta Larici from Pregasina is a must-do activity for anyone visiting Lake Garda. The hike is challenging but rewarding, and the views from the summit are some of the most breathtaking in the region. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a beginner, this trail is sure to provide an unforgettable adventure.
